Celebrate Football Season moxii Style

Everyone who loves college football eagerly awaits this time of year. We at moxii do, that’s for sure! Finally, it’s here- football, fall, and tailgating!

There’s so much to look forward to from cooler weather to cheering on your favorite college football team.What’s even more exciting are the new happenings around Auburn, AL and the moxii store.

For every Auburn home game, moxii will be participating in a Friday Night Block Party from 6-8! Food, giveaways, live music & entertainment- all of this starting tomorrow! Did we mention that it’s a free event? Bring your friends and family for a great time and fun activity before the Saturday game.

DIY: Make Your Own Headboard

Recently, moxii had the privilege to share with myhomeideas.com our favorite how-to’s and design tips. We transformed a drab dorm room into a comfortable and beautiful space.

One of the best features of the room were the coffee bean bag headboards made for both beds in the dorm room. One bed was positioned like that of a day-bed or couch topped with plush, decorative pillows. The headboards completed the room with moxii style!

MyHomeIdeas was interested in Moxii’s “Back to School” products, so where better to shoot the Moxii style than at a college. We transformed a cold, drab dorm room into a shabby chic, comfortable space that even we, college grads, could see ourselves in. The dorm room makeover as well as tips from Moxii’s designers will be featured.

Behind the Scenes of the Moxii Photoshoot

Recently, Moxii had its second photo shoot in Auburn, Al, home of the Moxii store front and warehouse. Although it was one of the hottest days of the summer, the perfect sunlight and outdoor space made for some beautiful pictures of our newest products.

When you see a Moxii one-of-a-kind bed, you probably don’t realize how much hard work is put into it – from using the right pillows and shams, choosing the perfect location to accessorizing to complete the look. Every scene is made with great detail and precision. And thanks to Caleb Chancey, the photographer, even the smallest detail was captured.

So all those times you wondered how the blankets got in the trees or the curtains on the fence, you’ll see how through these behind the scene shots of the latest Moxii photo shoot.

Deserving Bedroom Design Giveaway

We at Moxii realize how important it is to make a house a home that is welcoming, comfortable, and full of personality, your personality that is!  We also realize that times are tough and spending money on bedding and home decor may not be one of the highest priorities. But there’s nothing worse than a bedroom that you cannot escape to and find rest.

That is why Moxii wants to provide a deserving individual with a $500 gift card towards a bedroom of their dreams and a free consultation for all the design decisions. Moxii specializes in creating one-of-a-kind bedrooms – quality bedding with layers, various textures, and whimsical pieces to complete a charming space.

Moxii is accepting nominations only.

Moxii Has Just Returned From Market

Alright…the sky doesn’t really glow orange and the trees are not full of white leaves, but the Atlanta Market is quite impressive. If you’ve ever been there, you might have felt a little overwhelmed at first by the monstrosity of the four buildings that make up the entire market. But, as big as it is, that’s where we go to find the latest in trends and design. Moxii is committed to finding the best products for our clients. As a matter of fact, Moxii just returned from market last week and picked up some great new ideas and products! Remember to check back with us for some other new items that have been in the works lately. We’ll have pictures for you soon!

Moxii Room Makeover Giveaway

Moxii is proud to say that our Room Makeover Giveaway is now complete. The design team had so much fun last week surprising our winner with her own bedroom makeover. She already had a great room and beautiful deep caramel walls to work with. Her style is funky and cute, so the design teamed worked hard to keep her personality shining throughout the room. We loved her dark wood floors as well, so we chose to base our bedding scheme on the Rutched Sand Dune Quilt to add some texture to the space. We paired the Rutched Sand Dune quilt with two Madison Tan Euros and One Regina Java Euro Sham to add some pattern. With the addition of some standard shams, like the Virdine Brown, and Beeline Capri, the bedding was almost complete. To add some spunk, we paired two decorative pillows, the Brown Cheetah print, and our own Regina Java Ruffle pillow to spice up the look. The chocolate pompom throw also added just the right finishing touch.

Our bedding choices also stemmed from the fabric that our winner used to reupholster an old chair. This funky fabric selection let us know that her room update needed to be eye-catching, something that says “fun” but with class. So we added this organic shaped, light colored animal rug to the floor at the bottom of the bed, and it made the perfect statement against the dark wood floor.  Below you’ll see one of the hand-painted original canvases from the Moxii retail store that highlighted just the right colors from the bedding selection.

We love how the canvas really highlights the antique church bench that our lucky winner wanted to keep in her room. It is a quaint but cute touch.

This is the entry to the bedroom that we decided to spice up just a little. By changing out a lamp in the room with another, adding a focal point with some flowers, and some cute pictures, this little nook took a whole different look! We also added a vertical collage to the adjacent wall that consists of two of her photos and keepsakes and an original from the design team, a simple burlap mat covered by a paper doily. A very inexpensive way to add a feminine touch!

To compliment the opposite wall with the local artwork, we added these original African artwork canvases to the wall and love the pop they get from the wall color behind. Also, seen are two new lamps that we added that have a lighted base and a normal lighted shade. The leaves around the base bring in a nature element that coincides with the bedroom looking directly out into the woods.

As per request from our winner, we wanted to make the family photos that our client loves a definite focal point. After addressing the side walls with interesting decorative canvases, we thought that a photo collage over the headboard would be just the right touch to not only highlight all those special memories, but also bring even more visual height to the room by “stacking” the photos vertically. Overall, we feel that our Room Makeover was quite the success, and our winner was even more elated, saying that Moxii went above and beyond her expectations!

Metal to Masterpiece

Moxii is now very proud to carry a very unique line of artisan handicrafts called “Junkyard Art.” As if the pictures do not say it all, these funky shaped metal scrapes are some of the cutest, eye-catching pieces of art we’ve found in a while.  Believe it or not, “Junkyard Art” is crafted by Haitian artists from 50 gallon tomato paste drums.  The red, blue, yellow and green colors of the art are the actual recycled drums.  Each artisan original is created and adorned with recycled wire and bottle caps creating a whimsical one of a kind art.

Think of all the great places that these metal masterpieces can go. Do you have a little kid’s room? A playroom or a “Jack & Jill” Style bathroom, the little boy and girl signs would be perfect on the walls or even the doors! Here, take a look:

Moxii Retail is Open

Moxii is proud to announce that their new retail space is open and running! Moxii’s retail doors “officially” opened for business on October 1st of last week, and the Grand Opening Sale is still going on for 3 more days! One of the perks of having a retail space is that it allows our customers to come in and feel our bedding and see for themselves how unique our products are. We are also right next to our warehouse, which allows us to keep our products in stock and available. We have had a great time getting the retail space ready. Take a look at the stylish beds we have on display in the store right now:

Above is the cozy Isle Featherweight, paired with the Asher Quilt underneath, and an assortment of euros and throw pillows.

The Blue Isle Featherweight Quilt again. We love the way this ensemble turned out. The Navy Blue bedskirt really brings out the deep blue in the quilt! And although you would not normally pair black with navy, it totally works here. The mixture of the soft swirls of the Isle Featherweight with the very bold Greek Twilight Pillow (middle), makes a very interesting statement. Moxii also suggests layering your quilts to give your bedding a fuller, and more relaxed feel.

We also like taking a mixture of pillows that do not necessarily match perfectly, and let them work together. For example, take a look at another one of the beds on the retail floor now:

This is a fun, vibrant bedding palette. We have paired the oh-so-comfy Ruched Ivory and Antique Quilts with our Damask Pink Bedskirt, and our adorable  Chloe Linen Throw. Moxii also suggests having 2-3 euro shams on a full bed, like the one above. Having the right amount of pillows really helps your bedding to look full, which helps eliminate those unwanted empty spaces. Again, we have paired some very different decorative pillows on this bed, like the new Fuschia “Birds on a Limb” pillow, the Zagora Gold (oblong) Pillow, and even three custom made Lotus Linen Euro Shams. Yes, these pillows might seem like an unusual pair, but their colors work together with each other to make a very whimsical, but classy bed.

The Mandi Duvet is definitely going down in the books as a Moxii Classic. It’s wonderful combination of  teals, browns, and greens make one of our favorite color palettes. Dress it up or dress it down, the Mandi still finds a way to stand out on its own. Here we have paired the duvet with the Capri Beeline Bedskirt, three Mandi Euro Shams, the Mandi Standard Pillow Sham, and two great decorative pillows: The Branchport Brown Pillow, and the custom made Angelique (oblong) pillow.
